Social Value Matters is an annual conference organised by Social Value International, in collaboration with our Networks around the world. The conference will bring together global and local urgency to address the pressing issues of our time – wellbeing, inequality, and environmental degradation. Members of SVA are entitled to a discount on conference tickets, which you can purchase here.
For the New Zealand impact community, Social Value Aotearoa will be hosting Social Value Matters: NZ Talks Impact to contextualise the international conference into our local impact environment. Join us for the opening panel on September 28, then reconnect online throughout the week for a series of webinars, online workshops, interviews and discussions.
Join us for the opening session on Sept 28 to hear from keynote speaker Awerangi Tamihere, COO of Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency, followed by a panel discussion on Wellbeing as a Lens for Impact featuring guests from Fonterra, Ākina, the Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency, and Ngāti Whātua ki Ōrākei. Together, we’ll share different perspectives on what wellbeing means in corporate, government, and indigenous contexts and how we can collaborate to maximise impact for wellbeing outcomes.
We’re also excited to be offering the following free webinars to bring the impact community together in the week of Sept 28:
As a Partner at Parry Field Lawyers and host of the Seeds Podcast, Steven is deeply involved in the impact sector across Aotearoa New Zealand. This kōrero will focus on the theme of stewardship, or kaitiakitanga, and the idea of making choices today to shape a better tomorrow. We will explore this as a lens for evolving New Zealand’s impact sector, and consider this within the context of Covid-19 and the changes this has brought to our sector.
This is an opportunity for you to engage with current Maori Youth Impact Makers, Mamaeroa Merito & Nohorua Parata as they share their stories and experiences as Presidents of Te Mana Akonga, the National Māori Tertiary Students’ Association. This session will discuss the space that Tauira Māori have to make an Impact both within and out of the tertiary sector. It will consider the impacts of Covid-19 and how that has implicated or enabled Tauira Maori as well as what the future would look like for Tauira Māori.
Join us at 2pm, Wed Sept 30 for a kōrero with John Berry from CareSaver Kiwisaver Plan about the role of business and the possibilities to harness good within the corporate sector. In this kōrero, we will discuss the possibilities for businesses to be a force for positive social and environmental impact, steps individuals can take to support for-purpose business, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on this sector.
As part of NZ Impact Week, we will also be doing daily summaries of the conference via Facebook live, each day at 4pm. Make sure you follow us on Facebook and turn on notifications to catch these daily recaps of all the amazing content being shared in the international conference! This is a great option if you’re not able to commit to five full days of online content, but still want to hear from some of the amazing conference speakers.
Are you wondering where to start when it comes to measuring and monitoring the impact your organisation or workplace makes? Do you want to support greater good for the communities you work with but are not sure where to start? Tune in to chat with Clemmie and Sneha, two of New Zealand’s leading experts in this space. In this session we will discuss what is happening in the measurement space, what we value about different approaches, and what trends we are seeing.
This will be an informal chat and an opportunity to discuss the various approaches and methodologies for measuring social impact, including theory of change, SROI, and the Impact Management Project.

Hi, I was wondering for those who are unable to make some of these session times, will the webinars be recorded? If yes, can you please let me know how to access the recording? Is it also possible to access the illustrated notes from this morning’s session?
Many thanks.
