Are you interested in becoming accredited in SROI, but aren’t sure what it is or what it means? Read on here!
Social Return on Investment (SROI) is a model designed to shift ideas around programme effectiveness from an economic model to a social model. This process involves taking a programme that your organisation runs and evaluating it based on how effectively it delivers the positive social, environmental, and financial outcomes that it promises. An SROI review involves several key questions, including:
SROI then uses financial proxies to quantify the outcomes produced and compares this with the investment made in the programme. This provides a very valuable tool for funding and reporting on the social value of programmes, and gives your organisation a snapshot into the good being produced by your work.
Social Value International (SVI) offers a formal and internationally recognised qualification in SROI, in three stages.
Level One, Associate: Basic knowledge of social value, completion of reading list, and theory exam
Level Two, Accredited: SROI Research Project (which can be co-researched), SROI 2-day training, and an interview with SVI
Level Three, Advanced: SROI Research Project (independently-led), SROI 2-day training, and an interview with SVI
